Congratulations to Knox Roofing on becoming the first business in California to receive the Bat-Friendly Business Certification. For information on how your business can earn the Bat-Friendly Business Certification, click here.
Knox Roofing, one of the largest roofing companies in Santa Cruz County, completed its bat-friendly business certification on July 13. They are the first company in the state to receive this certification from Bat Conservancy of Coastal California (BCCC) . Warren Knox, the owner of Knox Roofing, will be accepting the certificate on Thursday, July 19, at his business.
The BCCC developed the Bat-Friendly Business Certification program in an effort to reach the businesses and individuals in our community that have the greatest direct impact on bats. These include roofers, tree surgeons, building contractors, pest control companies, real estate agencies, farms, wineries, golf courses, and more. The certification process includes educating employees about bats and industry-specific bat-friendly business procedures. Certified bat-friendly businesses are featured in the BCCC newsletter and on their website. Elise McCandless, Director of the Bat-Friendly Business Certification program says that there are already a number of businesses throughout California waiting to get certified, including a golf club and resort in the wine country.
